Course covers the Principles of DP, Elements of the DP system, Practical operation of the DP system, Position reference systems, Environment sensors and ancillary equipment, Power generation, supply and propulsion, DP operations. Course duration is four days, or 28 hours.
Used extensively in the offshore industry, dynamic positioning equipment can be found onboard vessels requiring precise positioning such as drilling, cable and pipe laying, dive and ROV support and FPSO vessels and Jack-up Barges. Dynamic positioning equipment is also used extensively on vessels and units operating in deep water and areas of environmental sensitivity where traditional anchoring techniques are not possible.

No, only the Nautical Institute issue accredited Dynamic Positioning Operators Certificates. Beier Radio issue the accredited training course certificates required to apply for an Operators Certificate.
Are there different types of Dynamic Positioning Operators Certificates?
Yes, the Nautical Institute issue a Limited Operator Certificate to candidates who work predominately on Class 1 Dynamically Positioned Vessels. The training requirements for Limited and Full Operator Certificates are the same.
